Frequently Asked Questions

What is Miles?

Miles is your personal credit card and loyalty program rewards assistant. We analyze 180 credit cards to help you maximize your points and miles by recommending the best card for each purchase—based on your wallet, and with Navigate, your personal points valuations.

How does Miles work?

We've examined every detail of each card in our database. Simply tell Miles a merchant or category where you plan to make a purchase, and we'll analyze all the cards in your wallet to determine which one gives you the highest return in points, miles, or cash back. We also consider your personal points valuations (with Navigate access) for truly customized recommendations.

Where does Miles get its information?

Miles uses a structured database of card benefits and rewards rules, plus a maintained library of points-and-miles reference material. We update this information regularly as programs and card benefits change.

How does Miles stay up to date?

Miles aggregates public information from card issuers, loyalty programs, and expert sources, then normalizes and updates it daily in a structured system designed for comparison and decision-making. When cards change, offers expire, or programs evolve, we update the dataset to keep recommendations grounded in current reality.

What kind of questions can I ask Miles?

You can ask questions like:

  • "Which card should I use at Target?"
  • "What's the best card for groceries?"
  • "What's a good card with a big sign-up bonus?"
  • "Which cards offer CLEAR credits?"
  • "Which programs transfer to United?"
  • "Help me pick a new card for my wallet."
  • "What are the best travel cards right now?"
  • "Compare the Amex Gold vs Chase Sapphire Preferred."
How can I access Miles?

Miles is available through our web app or via SMS from any device (with Navigate access at $5+/month).

Does Miles have a mobile app?

We don't currently offer a native mobile app, but you can add our web app to your device's home screen for a full-screen experience that feels like an app.

How do I add my credit cards to Miles?

When signing up, you'll be guided through adding your cards from our database of 180 options. If a card isn't yet listed, you can still add it manually—our team will be notified to include it in our database. You can update your wallet anytime from the Credit Cards page.

What is the Card Snapshot?

The Card Snapshot gives you a single-page view of everything your wallet offers — designed to help you optimize your cards and make sure you're not leaving value on the table.

It shows all your statement credits and benefits (organized by how often they refresh), your best earning rates by category, and all the transfer partners available across your cards. Instead of checking each card's terms separately, you get one consolidated view.

Miles does not see your spending or whether you've used specific credits. The Card Snapshot reflects what your cards offer, not how you use them.

You can generate your Card Snapshot by asking Miles "Generate my card snapshot" or by visiting the Card Snapshot page.

Can Miles help me track gift cards and store credits?

Yes. Miles can track your gift cards and store credits so you don't forget to use them.

Does Miles know about transfer partners?

Yes. Miles can tell you which programs transfer to which airlines and hotels, including transfer ratios, known transfer bonuses (when available), and sweet spot guidance.

Can I customize my points valuations?

Yes. Supporters can set custom valuations for all major transferable points, airline miles, and hotel points—ensuring recommendations align with your earning and redemption strategies.

Does Miles consider rotating bonus categories?

Yes. We track quarterly bonus categories for cards like Chase Freedom Flex and Discover it, including activation requirements.

What's the difference between Explore and Navigate?
  • Explore: 5 queries per month, up to 3 cards in your wallet, and web chat access. All answers backed by expert sources. New users get 10 trial queries to try Navigate's deeper analysis.
  • Navigate: 100 queries per month, unlimited cards, custom points valuations, deeper analysis and more thorough research, and priority support. SMS access is available at $5+/month.
How much does supporting Miles cost?

Supporting Miles uses pay-what-you-want pricing starting at $1/month. You choose your monthly support amount. SMS access with smart assistant integration (Siri, Google, etc.) is included at $5+/month.

How accurate are Miles' recommendations?

Our recommendations are based on continuously updated card data, your wallet configuration, and (with Navigate) your points valuations. We factor in earning rates, bonus categories, transfer partners, and redemption options to give you a best choice based on the information available. When assumptions apply (like merchant classification), Miles calls them out.

What happens if I cancel my support?

Your account will revert to Explore mode at the end of your current billing period. You'll keep your saved cards and settings but will be limited to 5 queries per month, 3 cards in your wallet, and won't be able to add new cards until you're under the limit.

How does SMS access work with smart assistants?

Supporters at $5+/month can text Miles directly and use voice commands like, "Hey Siri, text Miles: Which card should I use at Target?" Responses arrive via standard SMS. You'll receive a contact vCard to save for quick access.

Is my financial information safe with Miles?

Yes. Your privacy and security are top priorities. We use industry-standard encryption and security measures to protect your data. Miles never requires access to your actual accounts—only to your card list. See our Privacy Policy for more details.
