Keep or Cancel

Should you keep, downgrade, or cancel?

Miles compares a card's credits, perks, and rewards with its annual fee. Benefits that overlap with another card are counted once.

Count only the value a card adds

A benefit matters only when it adds value beyond the rest of your wallet. A second lounge membership may add little. A travel credit is worth its full amount only if you would have made the purchase without it. Miles accounts for overlapping perks, overlapping bonus categories, and the credits you use.

The result shows the card's value at your valuations, subtracts its annual fee, and recommends whether to keep, downgrade, or cancel.

Consider the downgrade options

Many premium cards can be changed to a no-annual-fee card in the same family, preserving the account history and credit line. Miles includes available product changes when it compares keeping the card with canceling it. You make the change with the issuer.
