Which card should you use?

Check every card for each purchase
Miles compares each card's multiplier, quarterly and capped categories, and the value of its rewards at your valuations. It also checks whether the merchant accepts the card. The answer shows the calculation behind the recommendation.
Merchant rules can vary by purchase channel. Costco warehouses accept Visa credit cards, while Costco.com also accepts Mastercard. Miles excludes cards that the merchant will not accept before comparing rewards.
Use matching gift cards first
If you have a gift card for the merchant, Miles recommends using it before a credit card. The gift card balance has already been paid for, so earning more rewards is secondary.
